Xiaomi vs Huawei Design

When it comes to design, the Xiaomi Redmi Watch 3 and the Huawei GT3 Pro both have their own unique look and feel. The Xiaomi watch boasts a square face and a 1.55-inch display that's easy to read and navigate.

Its silicone strap is comfortable and lightweight, making it a great option for those who prioritize comfort. On the other hand, the Huawei watch features a round face and a slightly smaller 1.43-inch display. Its leather strap gives it a more premium feel, and the watch itself feels solid and durable.

Xiaomi vs Huawei Smartwatch

After trying both watches, I found that the Xiaomi watch was indeed lighter and more comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. It sits well on the wrist and doesn't feel bulky or cumbersome.

However, I must say that the Huawei watch felt more high-end and sturdy. It's clear that Huawei invested time and resources into creating a watch that's not only stylish but built to last.

Xiaomi vs Huawei Smartwatch

Overall, it really comes down to personal preference. If you value comfort and a lightweight design, the Xiaomi watch is a great choice.

On the other hand, if you prefer a more premium feel and a watch that's built to withstand daily wear and tear, the Huawei watch may be the better option for you. Regardless, both watches offer a sleek and stylish design that's sure to turn heads.

Xiaomi vs Huawei Display

There are some notable differences to consider when it comes to the display of the Xiaomi Redmi Watch 3 and the Huawei GT3 Pro.

The Xiaomi watch boasts a larger 1.55-inch display compared to the Huawei watch's 1.43-inch screen. This size difference may seem small, but it can make a noticeable difference in terms of visibility and usability.

Xiaomi vs Huawei Smartwatch

Moreover, the Xiaomi watch takes the lead with its higher resolution of 360x360 pixels. This results in sharper images and clearer text when compared to the Huawei watch's resolution of 466x466 pixels. The difference in resolution becomes more apparent when viewing photos or reading messages on the screen.

On the other hand, the Huawei GT3 Pro has a unique feature of an always-on display, which can be convenient for those who want to quickly check the time without lifting their wrist.

This feature can be especially useful during meetings or when in a movie theater. However, this convenience comes at the expense of battery life, as the always-on display can drain the battery faster.

Xiaomi vs Huawei Smartwatch

After spending some time using both watches, I found the Xiaomi watch's display to be easier to navigate and interact with overall. The touch sensitivity of the screen was more responsive, and the interface was more intuitive to use.

Nonetheless, it's worth noting that the Huawei watch's display is still impressive and can be a matter of personal preference depending on what features you prioritize.

Xiaomi vs Huawei Features

Both watches include fitness tracking, heart rate monitoring, and sleep tracking features, allowing you to keep tabs on your overall health and well-being.

Xiaomi vs Huawei Smartwatch

However, the Huawei GT3 Pro takes the lead when it comes to features, with built-in GPS, a barometer, and even a skiing mode. The built-in GPS feature is particularly useful for those who want to track their outdoor workouts without having to carry their phone.

Xiaomi vs Huawei Smartwatch

Meanwhile, the barometer can provide you with information about the air pressure and altitude, which can be useful for hiking or mountain climbing. The skiing mode is also a unique feature that can track your skiing performance, including your speed and distance.

Xiaomi vs Huawei Smartwatch

On the other hand, the Xiaomi Redmi Watch 3 does have some unique features of its own. It has a built-in mic and speaker, which allows you to take phone calls and control your phone's music without having to take out your phone.

This feature is particularly convenient for those who are always on the go or want to keep their phone in their bag or pocket while working out.

Xiaomi vs Huawei Smartwatch

While the Huawei GT3 Pro may have more niche features, the Xiaomi Redmi Watch 3's microphone and speaker offer a level of convenience that cannot be overlooked.

Xiaomi vs Huawei Battery Life

The battery life of a smartwatch is always an important consideration, and both the Xiaomi Redmi Watch 3 and the Huawei GT3 Pro offer impressive battery performance. However, there is a clear winner when it comes to the duration of battery life.

The Huawei GT3 Pro stands out in this category, with an impressive battery life of up to 21 days with regular use. This is an exceptional feat for a smartwatch, especially considering the numerous features and capabilities packed into the device.

Xiaomi vs Huawei Smartwatch

On the other hand, the Xiaomi Redmi Watch 3 has a battery life of up to 12 days, which is still impressive for a smartwatch in its price range. The watch also has a quick charging feature, allowing you to get a full charge in just two hours.

It's important to note that the battery life of a smartwatch can vary based on usage patterns and settings. Therefore, it's always best to consider your usage habits and needs when choosing a smartwatch.

Final Verdict Xiaomi Redmi Watch 3 vs Huawei GT3 Pro

After comparing the Xiaomi Redmi Watch 3 and the Huawei GT 3 Pro, I would recommend the Huawei watch for those who prioritize features and battery life, while the Xiaomi watch is the way to go for those who value design and a larger screen size.

The Huawei GT 3 Pro stands out with its built-in GPS, barometer, and skiing mode, making it a great option for outdoor enthusiasts or those who want more niche features. Plus, with a battery life of up to 21 days, it's a reliable choice for extended use.

On the other hand, the Xiaomi Redmi Watch 3 has a sleek design and a larger screen size with higher resolution, making it a stylish and user-friendly option. Additionally, it has a built-in mic and speaker, allowing for phone calls and music control without needing to pull out your phone.

Ultimately, both watches offer a range of features and impressive displays, making them solid choices for anyone in the market for a smartwatch. However, by considering your priorities in terms of design, features, and battery life, you can make the best decision for your needs.

Design

Both the Xiaomi Mi Watch and Huawei Watch GT2 are round smartwatches. This means you don’t have to choose one over the other just for the shape. I feel like rectangular smartwatches are better suited for smartwatch functionality, but I would also wager that round smartwatches look much better.

The best is that both Xiaomi and Huawei have done a great job of creating smartwatches that look and feel exceptionally well. Both smartwatches feel like they should cost much more, that’s how good they are.

When it comes to dimensions, the Xiaomi Mi Watch is smaller in length and width, but it is a little thicker than the Huawei Watch GT2. The exact dimensions with the strap are 44.7 x 36.9 x 12.3 mm for the Mi Watch and 45.9 x 45.9 x 10.7 mm for the Huawei GT2.

Both smartwatches look very sporty, which might appeal to most of the target audience. Xiaomi has gone for a simpler look like the GT2 has some detailing on its bezel making it look much sportier. I prefer the cleaner look of the Mi Watch since I like all things minimalistic.

Xiaomi vs Huawei Smartwatch

Xiaomi offers TPU straps that are removable with a simple pin mechanism. Huawei on the other hand, offers either fluoroelastomer and TPU straps, similar to Apple. Huawei offers interchangeable straps too if you want to experiment with new looks.

The Mi Watch weighs less than the GT2 because it is made mostly from plastic while the GT2 uses metal and plastic in its build. While both watches are comfortable to wear, the Mi Watch would be my choice as it is lighter. Regardless, you can choose either of them and wear them comfortably for days.

Both smartwatches feature a touchscreen but additionally, you get two physical buttons on both smartwatches. Both buttons function similarly, one button to get to the home screen and the other is a shortcut to workout tracking.

And since these are watches, you get water resistance too, both the Mi Watch and the Huawei Watch GT2 offer 5ATM water resistance. This means you can use these watches up to 50 meters underwater.

Display

Displays are an important part of smartwatches as it is how you interact with them, and both Xiaomi and Huawei got their display right. They have actually got it more than right, these displays are very good. Both Xiaomi and Huawei have gone for AMOLED displays and it has paid off for them.

Both smartwatches feature a 1.39-inch display with a resolution of 454 x 454 pixels. Since these are AMOLED displays you also get an always-on display feature. So both smartwatches offer the same experience when it comes to display quality, but I do feel that the GT2 is slightly more vibrant and colorful, but I am nitpicking. Both screens look great on their own.

Fitness and Health Tracking

The Xiaomi Mi Watch and the Huawei Watch GT2 are designed to be fitness companions, so both watches include multiple sensors and features to provide good health and fitness tracking.

Xiaomi vs Huawei Smartwatch

The Huawei Watch GT2 comes with a GPS, on heart rate monitor, and all the usual motion sensors found in sports and smartwatches like gyroscope, accelerometer, and more. These sensors are always enabled and can track activity 24/7 if you want. The GT2 features activity tracking, sleep monitoring, SpO2 calculation, and more. The Huawei Watch GT2 also has 85 workout modes for sports tracking, these include running, cycling, swimming, hiking, and more.

Health and Fitness Tracking - Xiaomi Mi Watch vs Huawei GT2

Huawei Sensor

The Huawei Watch GT2 can also give guided running lessons so that you can run long distances effectively and it can also guide you with interval running. Huawei has partnered with an analytics team called Firstbeat for the Huawei Watch GT2 to provide VO2 Max insights, training sessions, and heartbeat analysis.

In comparison, the Mi watch comes with all the usual motion sensors along with GPS, optical heart rate monitor, compass, and more. Like the Huawei GT2, the Mi Watch can do activity tracking, sleep tracking, heart rate monitoring, and more. It can also measure blood oxygen levels. The GPS sensor supports Glonass, BDS, and Galileo for better outdoor activity tracking.

Xiaomi Tracking

Xiaomi vs Huawei

The Xiaomi Smartwatch also takes advantage of Firstbeat-powered insights to offer the same information as the GT2. The Mi Watch features an additional Energy feature that works similar to Garmin’s Body Battery monitor, this will monitor your sleep, activity, and heart rate to give you info on how well you can tackle the day.

Xiaomi offers 117 workout modes with the Mi Watch and 17 core workout modes to offer more activity-specific metrics for the core workout modes. This includes activities like walking, running, swimming, and more.

When it comes to the accuracy of data collected, both perform similarly with Huawei GT2 edging it over the Mi Watch. Huawei managed to provide much more accurate sleep tracking results and the insights it offered were also better. Both smartwatches motivate you to work out more while tracking your activity. Even with the heart rate and stress monitoring, the Huawei GT2 was the more accurate one of the two, but the difference was only a little.

While tracking the accuracy of sports data is hard, using sports tracking was better on the GT2 as the UI for reviewing stats was better, the GT2 also offered a good running guide. High-intensity workout tracking is where both smartwatches failed as they weren’t doing a great job of monitoring the heart rate.

The Huawei Watch GT2 also allows you to share data to Google Fit and Apple Health, this is great as you can get insights from different app developers. The Mi Watch doesn’t have any data sharing feature.

Smartwatch features

What are smartwatches without smart features, so both the Huawei Watch GT2 and the Mi Watch connect to Android and iOS devices to offer smart features. The Mi Watch does a great job of working with both Android and iOS devices equally well, while the GT2 works better with Android more than iOS. So for iOS users, the Mi Watch would be the better choice.

Overall both smartwatches are closely matched with the Huawei GT2 doing slightly better when it comes to accuracy and general UI. Xiaomi does offer more workout modes so it is fair to say they are evenly matched. In the end, you wouldn’t be disappointed with both.

The Mi Watch offers basic notifications, tons of watch faces, works as a camera shutter for your smartphone, the ability to set alarms, and more. The Mi Watch also supports Amazon Alexa as a smart assistant, this works when it is connected to your smartphone via Bluetooth.

Xiaomi Watch Faces

Huawei Watch Faces

On the other hand, the Huawei Watch GT2 does all the stuff the Mi Watch does except for the Amazon Alexa support. But as an upside, you can use the GT2 to control the music playback of your Android phone.

Both smartwatches also come with their own smartphone apps that let you review health and fitness data and adjust watch settings. These apps are evenly matched and are quite rough to use, these apps also fall well behind the competition like Fitbit.

When it comes to smartwatch features, I would recommend the Mi Watch over the Huawei Watch GT2 especially if you are an iOS device user.

Battery

When it comes to battery, you would be pleased with both smartwatches as you don’t have to charge them every day. They would even last for more than a few days.

The Mi Watch sports a 420 mAh battery that is designed to deliver 16 days of battery life in typical mode. You can extend this to 22 days in long battery mode and up to 50 days of GPS battery life. These modes still depend on what features you use and don’t, so these battery life claims are the best-case scenario. But you can expect multiple days of battery life easily from the Mi Watch.

In comparison, the Huawei Watch GT2 comes with a 455 mAh battery which promises to offer two weeks of battery life. And from my testing, Huawei dumping WearOS for battery life has paid for them. The Huawei GT2 offered almost two weeks of battery life, while the Mi Watch offered one week in the typical mode.

While it is a strong showing from both smartwatches, if you want the best battery life, then you should get the Huawei Watch GT2.

Xiaomi vs Huawei Smartwatch - Conclusion

Both smartwatches in comparison are very closely matched. I prefer the lightweight and minimal design of the Mi Watch over the sporty Huawei Watch GT2. The Huawei GT2 is slightly better when it comes to screen quality while the Mi Watch is better in terms of connectivity. The Mi Watch offers more workout modes while the GT2 is slightly better in terms of tracking accuracy. While the Mi Watch is a better smartphone companion, it loses to the GT2 in terms of battery life.

So, both smartwatches trade blows and have advantages and disadvantages. But regardless of which one you choose, you will be happy as there’s very little setting them apart. Both smartwatches are excellent devices for their price so choose the one based on your personal preference.
