Redmi Note 8 Price and Review | Best Budget Flagship in the Market

In this season, Xiaomi has released numerous phones. The Redmi series have always been super sought after and have created a great market for Xiaomi. Along with the Redmi Note 8 Pro, the Redmi Note 8 got released too.

Honestly these budget phones are getting out of hand. If you look at the specs of the Redmi Note 8, you will be stunned to see that they are the same as a mid-range smartphone or in some cases a premium smartphone.

But there’s always a question on everybody’s mind. Just because it has the features, does it mean it works great?

Let’s find out in the Redmi Note 8 Review.

Design and Display

Let’s talk about the design of this phone. With the gradient look going on, this is a pretty good looking phone that has a Corning Glass 5 on the front and the back of the phone which makes it pretty solid.

The front display is a 6.3-inch Full HD screen with a 1080 X 2280 display. It unfortunately doesn’t have HDR on its phone, but even that omission cannot stop this phone from giving out a clean and beautiful output.

The front has a water drop notch on top and a bezel at the bottom with the ‘Redmi’ logo. I am so glad that they have the logo in there instead of leaving it blank.

The top notch also has a notification light. Coming to the back, there is the quad camera set-up that is neatly placed on the left side. This could be an annoyance, especially if you are used to center based cameras.

There is a fingerprint sensor too bang in the middle which is at the right spot and is blazingly fast. The phone also packs an IR Blaster, 3.5mm jack and a USB-C slot.

The phone is dual-sim capable and has a slot for an SD card. All in all, it’s the complete package.

It’s available in Space Black, Moonlight White and Neptune Blue.

Features and Specs

The one thing that is truly annoying about this phone is the OS. MIUI 10 without mincing words is a pain in the ass. It’s got so much bloatware that you will get irritated and it pushes you to download more.

There are ads that you can see on the lock screen and in my opinion, Xiaomi let’s itself down with its MIUI10.

Barring that, you have some amazing tech inside. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor is snappy and pretty amazing.

It has a 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage and there is a 6GB of RAM with 128GB storage version.

Cameras

Coming to the business end of this review. Let’s talk cameras!

The cameras are four in number. The primary one is a 48-megapixel one that has an f/1.79 aperture and that can shoot 4k videos with EIS enabled. Then there’s the 8-megapixel with ultra-wide lens that covers a 120-degree angle.

Then there’s a 2-megapixel macro camera and lastly there’s another 2-megapixel depth sensor.

The front has a solid 13-megapixel shooter.

Are we happy with the cameras?

For a budget device, the cameras are amazing. They offer wide opportunities and what essentially Redmi Note 8 has done with this is, they’ve blown away the  mid-range competition out of the park.

With these cameras, you’ll be able to shoot high quality videos for super cheap.

Battery

The battery on this phone is a 4000 mAh behemoth that has fast charging capabilities. It ships with a 18W charger that gives you a full charge in 40 odd minutes. This is a brilliant device that is capable of so much.

Redmi Note 8 Specs

The Redmi phones never ceases to surprise me. They always go for gold by giving you the best features for the lowest prices and it’s the same with the Redmi Note 8 too. If I had one big complaint then it's the MIUI10. It’s a pathetic excuse for an OS with its bloatware and unnecessary ads.

If you are able to ignore that for a bit, then you have an amazing smartphone that looks premium with its gradient design and glass back. Now this is a detail I don’t want people to ignore because it’s so easy for Xiaomi to just put a plastic back with a simple colour, but they went the extra mile.

The display is nice and big and it renders the colours beautifully even though its not HDR. The cameras are brilliant and you get a very good camera phone for cheap. This phone also has quick charging and an amazing battery life that will last for quite a bit.

Overall, this is a solid phone. If I were you, I’d buy a brand new Redmi phone every year as it doesn’t cost much and the upgrades are super worthy.
